Overview
The USB Type-C Breakout board is a compact and versatile module designed for USB-C prototyping, testing, and educational applications. It provides easy access to essential USB-C signals through standard 2.54 mm pin headers, making it ideal for breadboard use and custom electronics projects.
This USB Type-C Breakout exposes VBUS (5 V power), GND, USB 2.0 D+ and D− data lines, CC1 and CC2 configuration channels, and SBU1/SBU2 sideband pins. Onboard 5.1 kΩ pull-down resistors on the CC pins ensure proper USB-C sink detection and reliable power negotiation in both plug orientations.
Designed as a USB 2.0-compatible breakout, the board is suitable for Full-Speed and High-Speed USB applications, microcontroller interfacing, and general USB-C experimentation. The SBU and CC pins are also brought out for advanced users who wish to explore custom signaling or USB-C behavior beyond basic power and data.
With a 2-layer PCB, solid ground pours, and a compact footprint, this USB Type-C Breakout offers stable electrical performance while remaining easy to integrate into prototypes and development setups. It is intended for hobbyist, educational, and development use and does not support USB Power Delivery (PD) or USB 3.x SuperSpeed modes.
